Create a Template Test in Eraya
Template Tests let you compare different Shopify templates (for example, product templates) to see which layout performs better for conversion, revenue, or engagement.
Step 1: Name & Description
Give your test a clear name so it’s easy to identify later.
What to do:
Enter a Test Name (required) Example: “Product Page Layout Test”
Optionally add a Description explaining what you’re testing and why
💡 Tip: A good description helps when reviewing results weeks later.
Click Next to continue.

Step 2: Test Variations
Set up your control and variation(s), and decide how traffic is split.
By default:
Control → 50% traffic
Variation 1 → 50% traffic
You can:
Rename variations (e.g. “Original Template”, “New Layout”)
Adjust traffic allocation
Use Auto-Distribute to evenly split traffic
⚠️ Adding more variations is coming soon.
Click Next when traffic allocation totals 100%.

Step 3: Template Configuration
This is where you choose which Shopify template each variation uses.
Control
Click Select Template
Choose the existing template you want to treat as the baseline Example:
product
Variation
Select a different template, usually a duplicated version of the control Example:
product.4v888t
📌 Important rules
The control template must be selected first
If you want to change the control template after assigning a variant, you must remove the variant first
This safeguard exists because the control and variation must belong to the same template type (e.g. Products vs Collections)
Templates are applied only to the selected template type (for example, Product templates will not affect Collection pages)
This prevents accidentally mixing incompatible templates and ensures your test runs correctly.
Once both templates are assigned, click Next.

Step 4: Audience Selection
Choose who should see this test.
Default option:
All Visitors Includes every visitor to your store
You can:
Keep the default audience
Or add a custom audience (location, device, traffic source, etc.)
💡 If you’re unsure, start with All Visitors.
Click Next to continue.

Step 5: Review & Launch
Before launching, review your test setup:
Test name & description
Control and variation templates
Traffic split
Selected audience
If everything looks correct:
Click Launch Test
🚀 Your Template Test is now live and visitors will start seeing different templates automatically.

What Happens Next?
Visitors are randomly assigned to Control or Variation
Eraya tracks key metrics like:
Conversion rate
Orders
Revenue
You can monitor results from the Test Details page and stop the test anytime
